My approach to all projects is to demonstrate the beauty of light describing exterior and interior architectural forms, interior furnishings, and landscape shapes.
Lighting is a form of art.
Successful lighting design addresses functional lighting requirements while making a home visually pleasing, whatever the style - traditional, transitional, or modern architectural.
Lighting controls incorporated into lighting design set the mood for entertaining guests and family, and general lighting, when required, for laundry, garage, and crafts.
Whether new construction or a remodel, my lighting concepts reduce ceiling clutter, light source visibility, while reducing energy consumption by using LED technology.
I do not sell product. I design and specify. I produce all the documentation necessary to get product cost quotes and assist with ordering.
The plans I produce direct contractors, builders and electricians on fixture placement and the switch load sequencing of fixtures to be controlled. Decorative fixtures, selected by owners and interior designers, are incorporated into the plan.
Good lighting designers know the details. My project history demonstrates work with architects and interior designers to incorporate non-intrusive lighting hidden above crown molding, in the recesses of built-in cabinetry and under coves.

JRD unique services include two- and three-dimensional art lighting. Theme and custom lighting techniques are opportunities to make a beautifully designed space look stunning.
Landscapes can be another form of art. Lighting must be planned with the health and growth of the plant life in mind. Hardscape and exterior architecture lighting provides an element of safety while also showcasing the residence.
